ABOUT US
OUR HISTORY
Metro’s Sports & Social Club originally opened in 1905 as the Metropolitan Vicars Club which was a Sports and Social Club purely for the employees of G.E.C (The General Electric Company) based in Trafford Park.
We have had a couple of name changes over the years to the A.E.I Club and then the G.E.C Club.
In 1994 the members bought the clubhouse and land and it became a private members club, managed by an elected Executive Committee and the Secretary, a steward/ess is employed to manage the bars, ensuring all our members can appreciate a good pint and enjoy themselves whilst in the club.
In 2007, we sold one of our bowling greens and the unused tennis courts and pitch and put area and the money raised was used to design and build a new club for our members, this was opened in December 2009 and is now known as the Metro’s Sports and Social Club.
